Description
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Astro Personality: Astro is a loyal and affectionate companion with a heart of gold. He's a big softie at heart, always eager to please his humans and make new friends. He's known for his endless cuddles and playful nature with the kids, whether it's romping around in the backyard or snuggling up on the couch for a nap. He loves to go for rides and is friendly to all. Interests: Astro loves jumping high to retrieve toys, running around chasing kiddos, and indulging in tasty treats. He's also a fan of belly rubs and cuddle sessions with his favorite humans. In his downtime, you can find him lounging in the sun or fast asleep on the couch. Background: My family and I decided to foster Astro during an adoption event hosted by a rescue. He was neglected and malnourished by his previous owner and really needed love, attention and care. Despite his rough start, he's thriving in his loving home and is grateful for the second chance he's been given. Now, he spends his days spreading joy and happiness wherever he goes, proving that pit bulls are just as loving and loyal as any other breed.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
