Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed. Named for his cookies and cream coloring, Chips Ahoy is a resilient canine with a heart as big as his love for squeaky toys! Chips is an adorable and playful companion who loves fetch, playing with toys, and snuggling up while you watch TV. He’s potty trained, enjoys his walks, and adores his bones and hanging out with his people. While Chips is an affectionate and fun dog, he’s been through some tough times and is looking for a patient, loving forever home. Because of his past, he needs help working through his trust issues with new people and dogs. However, he's currently living with two other foster dogs and gets along great with them! With a little time and patience, Chips adjusts well, and with the help of his trainer, he’s making excellent progress. Chips will thrive in a home with older kids or adults who understand his needs and can continue his training journey. No small children, please—they can be too unpredictable for him right now. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
