Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Hi there, I'm Kiara! I'm a gentle soul with a goofy side that loves to make people laugh. I'm friendly to everyone I meet and I'm known around here for my sweet nature. I've seen some rough times, but I don't let that get me down. I believe in living in the moment and finding joy in the simple things, like a good belly rub or a cuddle session. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share my love and laughter. If you're in need of a loyal friend who will keep you smiling, I'm your girl! I may be a senior but I still have a lot of life and love to give and would really love to do that in a home of my own. The adoption fee is $250 The age requirement to adopt is 25+ years old. Please fill out adoption application via web or link under our dog section to be considered for adoption All dogs are spayed or neutered, chipped and UTD on hw and flea preventative and all age appropriate vaccines.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
