Loving, Loyal German Shepherd with Incredible Bunny Ears! LACEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!! Come meet Lacey and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/18) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Name: Lacey Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and german shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 4.5 years as of January 2025 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 70 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. Due to her high prey drive, Lacey should not go to a home with cats. Currently Living At: DC area foster home Check out this video of Lacey with her fosters: youtu.be/oz5Hnz8Ay9g. All about Lacey: You look at Lacey and think to yourself: Now this is a dog! She is a confident, loving dog who loves her humans beyond belief and is in her element with dogs to play and wrestle with. She adores people, giving them full-body hugs and showering them with kisses. Want a 70-pound lap dog? She's totally up for it! And she's good in the home. She sleeps quietly overnight in her crate and eats in there. She has learned Sit, Down and Paw, and is eager to learn new things - she likes making her humans happy. As her foster puts it, "A more grateful dog to her humans does not exist." Her foster loves watching Lacey play with her resident dogs. Forget what the vet records say her age is - Lacey has the energy and stamina of a younger dog. She plays nonstop when given the chance. See the videos in this bio - she enjoys burning off all that awesome energy playing with other pups, that tail always up and happily waving. And when Lacey met a bunch of young puppies at a puppy party, she responded with play bowing and dancing around them. Lacey is an all-around great dog for anyone who wants a big, happy, confident, active dog. She will joyfully accompany you on all your adventures (and she is great in the car!). If you need a break, she'll just as happily go play with the other big, happy, confident dogs. She's just got that special dog spirit and makes a house a home. Medical: Lacey was treated as part of a groundbreaking heartworm treatment study and has tested negative at the 6-month mark. Please let us know if you have any questions about this. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
