Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Hi, I’m Jewels — a 7–8-year-old sweetheart with a heart full of love and so much life still to share. I’m about 40 pounds, low energy, and as gentle as they come. I’ve spent over a year in the shelter, quietly waiting for my forever person. I’m a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I’ll melt right into your side — loyal, loving, and endlessly grateful. I walk beautifully on leash, take treats like a pro, and absolutely love car rides. I don’t ask for much — just a calm, kind home where I can finally exhale. I adore my people and would be happiest in a peaceful place where I can feel safe, loved, and part of a family. If you're looking for a loyal companion who’s past the puppy phase but still has plenty of love to give, I just might be your girl. I’ve waited a long time for my second chance — maybe it’s you I’ve been waiting for.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
