Description
Posted Breed: Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat). Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescueyahoo), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. This little guy SAMMY has been with me a while because he had cherry eyes in both eyes and needed surgery. He still looks a little sluggish but his surgery to remove both cherry eyes went smoothly and he is healing with no problems. There is NO daily maintenance for upkeep required on him. SAMMY is 3 years old and weighs 11.30 pounds. He is leash trained and rides well in the car. I call SAMMY the daddy of the group of dogs around here because he acts like everyone's loving dad. Especially with the puppies, he cleans them and gently plays with them and he knows what he is doing because he plays a little rougher with the older/bigger dogs. He is a great dog with all of the dogs and if one does not play with him he will get in their face and bark at them for a moment until another dog comes along and plays with him SAMMY is very social and friendly with everyone he meets. He was found on the streets of San Antonio, TX in horrible shape, simply horrible. His mats were at least 10 months old and it took me 2 days to get them off. Oh by the way he looks scruffy and a bit raggedly because I groomed (hacked) him myself so he could have his neuter surgery. I did not have time to have him properly groomed before the surgery. I will clean him up again in a few days and post new pictures of him. SAMMY would do best in a home with another dog that he can play with. He would be bored bad being the only dog. I do NOT have cats in my home so I do not know how he would do with cats and I do not have the ability to cat test him. I know he was on the streets a long time surviving the best he could. Since being in my house he has been a great houseguest and has given me no problems. If you are interested in adopting SAMMY please submit an application on the website below. Thank you. .roxysk9rescue ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes. Overview:
The Miniature Poodle, a charming and intelligent companion, originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. They are renowned for their elegant appearance, characterized by a distinctive curly coat (often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting), long muzzle, and expressive dark eyes. Standing typically between 10 to 15 inches tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds, they are a compact yet sturdy breed. Temperamentally, Miniature Poodles are known for their high intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They are generally lively, affectionate, and can be quite playful, thriving on interaction with their families. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are often excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as progressive retinal atrophy, luxating patella, and Addison's disease. With their captivating looks and bright minds, the Miniature Poodle makes a delightful and devoted family member.
