Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Adoption Fee: 200. This beauty queen is Roxy. She showed up as a stray on a family's outdoor couch ready to deliver her babies. Unfortunately, she had a rough delivery & had to go to the emergency vet where one puppy died and the other lived. The vet estimates Roxy as 1.5-2 years old. She is heartworm positive but will be treated shortly after she is spayed in mid July 2024. She is current on all other vaccines, flea/tick prevention & will be microchipped before adoption. Roxy was obviously not treated very kindly before she arrived at her fosters home but she has warmed up quickly and learned to trust them. She loves other dogs and is great with kids. Roxy loves going for car and boat rides. She has even gotten to go tubing. (perks of your foster parents living on the lake) Roxy is eager to please and would love nothing more than to lay her head in your lap and snuggle up to you on the couch. She is very obedient and learned to sit in just one day. Roxy would make a great addition to a loving family who understands that it may take her a little time to trust you; but once she does, she is dedicated to you! Let's get this girl the home she deserves; the home she should've had all along. :)

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
