Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $425. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Julie Hoffman Nora is a 37 pound petite female who is crate trained and housebroke. Nora ended up in the shelter because she is an escape artist and can open doors with her mouth, jump and climb tall fences very quickly and easily, so a fence with supervision at all times or on leash at all times with supervision, is a must for her. Nora has high prey drive so she is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. Nora is very interested in squirrels and attempting to climb trees to catch them.. She walks well on a leash and is robust in her walking. Nora does not yet show interest in toys as of yet but does love food. Nora can be vocal if she hears strange noises. Nora also has a fear of thunderstorms and loud noises such as jets flying over. Nora is aloof and takes awhile to warm up. She is very independent and prefers to do her own thing while keeping an eye on her favorite person. She will follow you around the house and wants to be where your activities are. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
