Description
Posted Breed: Boxer. 7/9/2024 Ryleigh II is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Ryleigh II! I am a beautiful 8 year old white girl that is an owner surrender after being rescued from an abusive home and the resident dogs in my current home and I are not getting along. I am described as protective and nervous. I can be dog friend selective and not get along with them, so being the only dog in the home may be best for me. I currently live with a 15 year old kid and do well with him. If I see a cat outside I do not bother them, but if it is in the house, I will chase them. I am timid when first meeting someone but will open up after a bit. I am house trained but will need assistance with crate training manners if that is required in my forever home. I have slept outside in my past life but now sleep inside and do fine. If the humans must be away and I am left alone, I react fine. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig. I am fearful of thunder and fireworks but love riding in the car on adventures! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
