Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Sweet Carly finds herself needing an adopter through no fault of her own. Her owner has faced some lifestyle changes that no longer allow her to care for Carly. Carly is a friendly, loving, energetic girl who would love a yard to play in - or at least a lot of exercise every day - and a human to hang out with most of the time. She loves long walks, but can help you work from home, as well. She is great with people, but a bit excitable around children, so we recommend older children only. Carly would love a male sibling to play with, someone around her size is best. Carly is about 6 years old, approximately 40 lbs, and up to date on vaccines. If you are looking for a best friend, Carly is your girl! If you would like to adopt Carly, please put your application in here: .rescuedogsrocknyc RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
