Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (long coat). Dana (AL) is a spayed female Hound mix estimated to be 14 months old as of February 2025. Dana is up to date on core vaccines (age-appropriate), is microchipped and has been spayed. Marley is good with people, kids of all ages and dogs of all sizes. She ignores her foster cat sibling. Gorgeous Dana is a stunning copper colored pup who likes to make her thoughts heard. She walks nicely on a leash, adores kids, sits for treats. She loves to sit with her toys in her foster family's fenced in yard. Dana prefers sleeping in her dog bed over sleeping in her human's bed. She is crazy for toys, and her favorite is her squeaky chicken. Marley is playful, happy, snuggly, kissable and lovable. She asked us to let you know that she is not a fan of car rides! Dana will be a wonderful family dog. If you are looking for 4-legged love, Dana is looking for you! Please apply online to adopt Dana (AL) at .rescuedogsrocknyc. Her adoption fee is $575. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
