Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Anya (TX) is a female terrier mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Anya is 3 years old at the time of intake in March 2024, so she would be about 4.5 years as of August 2025. Anya is good with people and dogs. This little bundle was found in a neglected house with 98 other hoarded dogs. Because of her previous living conditions, she just wants to be close and curls up on your lap for security and cuddles. Small children might be too fast and loud for her. Anya's foster mom reports she loves to run and play in her fenced in yard with her up siblings. She is shy at first, but once she warms up she will stay by your side. She is a sweet girl looking for a loving patient forever home and a couch to snuggle with someone. If you can show Anya love and welcome her into your family, please apply online to adopt Anya (TX) at .rescuedogsrocknyc. RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
