Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Madonna (GA) is a female American Pit Bull Terrier mix rescued in Georgia and estimated to be 2 years old at intake in September 2020. Madonna is a low-energy, super sweet, shy girl who is great with women and children, but fearful of men and quick hand movements. She needs a calm home and a gentle female owner. Madonna is good with other dogs with slow introductions, but is not a fan of cats; she prefers to eat in her crate and not have to worry about others taking her food. When we first found Madonna, she was tethered to a tree in the woods, with wounds sustained in an attack by another dog, as well as many scars and broken and missing teeth - signs of horrifying prior abuse. Madonna also had a non-cancerous mammary tumor removed; the biopsy came back as benign hyperplasia.
