Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Norbert is nearly a year old gentle, quiet Shepherd mix with a heart full of love. He’s a bit shy when meeting new people, but with patience and the right environment, he blossoms into a sweet and affectionate companion. Norbert thrives with the help of another confident dog in the home. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows “sit” and “lay down.” Once he feels safe, Norbert loves to snuggle up and be close to his humans. He’s not the kind of dog who will be the life of the party—but he is the kind who will quietly steal your heart. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
