Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Niles is a sweet, gentle boy with the perfect mix of happy energy and cuddle-bug charm. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, his goofy, lovable personality comes out in full force. Niles loves to play and enjoys walks and romping around with his dog friends. He loves other dogs, does great with cats, and would be thrilled to have a furry sibling or two in his new home. After playtime, Niles transforms into a professional snuggler. He loves curling up with his people and soaking in all the affection he can get. He’s also house trained and crate trained, making him an easy, well-mannered addition to just about any home. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, dog-friendly companion who balances fun with quiet affection, Niles is your guy! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
