Description
Posted Breed: Terrier. Hi there! My name is Zo, and I’m a handsome 2-year-old male velvet hippo with a heart full of love to give. I might be a little shy when I first meet new people, but once I feel safe, my sweet personality shines through! I’m almost fully house-trained (90% there!) and keep my crate clean. I love going for walks and playing outside, so a fenced yard would be amazing for me. I’m a great playmate with my foster sister and don’t mind the cats in the house either. I’m neutered, up to date on all my vaccines, and ready for my forever home! I’d do best with older kids who can help me feel comfortable and loved. Could I be the perfect addition to your family?

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
