Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). How to Adopt Roscoe is a beautiful red & white male with vibrant blue eyes. He was abandoned when his uncaring family moved away and literally left him behind, alone in the backyard. Despite this, his husky spirit has overcome his past and he's full of love and affection. Roscoe gets along well with other dogs, but he can be a bit "bossy" with them. We think he might do best as an only dog with someone who is retired or works from home. He wants nothing more than to be your best friend and he'll follow you around the house and be your constant companion. Roscoe is house-trained and generally calm and well-mannered indoors. He has a great personality but he can be sensitive to rough handling, so he'll need a confident and experienced husky owner with a gentle touch. If you open your heart to this loving guy and give him a chance, you'll have a friend for life! Like other dogs in our overwhelmed rescue group, Roscoe is currently in boarding and really needs a foster home or a forever home. If you're interested in fostering or adopting Roscoe, please contact Kirt at 505-280-8908. We and Roscoe thank you for your interest!

Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
