Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Chopper! A 3 year old, 40ish #, super sweet, extra loyal and loving- blue heeler mix that adores attention and cuddles. Chopper thinks everyone is his best friend, and has enthusiastic body wiggles when he wags his tail. He is crate trained and house trained. He loves to play and wrestle with his dog friends, and also loves a good cuddle on the couch with his humans. He loves to jump around and try to do silly aerial acrobatics at dinner time and is just a funny and fun boy to have around. Chopper was a community dog on a local Utah tribal reservation, and was rescued after he needed emergency surgery for doing the tango with an extra prickly porcupine. He can be slightly timid in new situations but never wavers from being sweet and loving! Chopper is excellent on leash, is house and crate trained, and loads beautifully into the car for adventures. Chopper is a wonderful dog with a huge personality, he is ready to be the very best companion! ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Chopper, please fill out an online application at Caws. Thanks! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
