Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. To complete an adoption application, click here: /forms/form?formid=5879 Ernie is still looking for his forever home! Neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Ernie is a total goofball! He's a high-energy pup who loves to play and ADORES people. He loves everyone he meets. His ideal home would be an active one where he doesn't have to spend a lot of time alone. He's good with other dogs and is in a foster home with cats too. His best buddy is a cat! His canine and feline friends need to be ready for some rambunctious fun though or they might not be as big of a fan of him as he will be of them. Ernie has been doing structured training while in our care to learn basic obedience. He is doing great! Like all pups, Ernie needs a family who will continue his training. He's a smart boy who is very food and treat motivated! Adoption fee $325 To complete an adoption application, click here: /forms/form?formid=5879

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
