Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Lennox came into our care on August 30th from Imperial Animal Control along with his two brothers. All three of them had been found in a field all by themselves. Lennox recently went to an adoption event, and he did amazing! Our weekend adoption specialist said he was so excited to meet everyone at the event! After saying hi to everyone and playing with the other dogs, Lennox decided it was nap time and decided to plop down in an aisle. At the event Lennox met small and older children, and he did very well with them all. He was particularly gentle with the smaller children. He does pretty well on a leash, and we believe he is potty trained. He waited until the end of the adoption and was outside before he went potty. If anyone is looking to adopt a sweet, gentle, and unique looking pooch, Lennox is the perfect shelter shepherd for you!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
