Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed / mixed. Jill (GA) is a female Hound mix estimated to be 6-7 weeks old at the time of intake in late September 2024. Jill is up to date on core vaccinations (age appropriate) and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Jill is good with people of all ages and loves other dogs. This sweet, beautiful pup was tossed into a dumpster and left there to die at just 6 weeks old. We can't change the beginning of Jill's life, but we can certainly change the rest of her life! Jill is a sweetheart who loves all these things: playing fetch and returning her tennis ball to you, playing with her chew toys, cuddling. She’s also happy in her crate. Jill is a happy, friendly, playful pup who will make a great 4-legged addition to any family. If you would like Jill to join your family, please apply online to adopt Jill (GA) at .rescuedogsrocknyc. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
