Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Are you looking for the dog equivalent of a #Girlboss? Perhaps a pittie Miranda Priestly?? Before becoming a Diamond, Maddie was not socialized with people or animals and, as she has started expanding her social circle, her true bossy lady personality has truly emerged…so if you’re looking for a pup to take over your day-to-day life decisions, Maddie is your girl! In all seriousness, Maddie is a work in progress. Maddie has attached very strongly to her foster, and is (mostly, lol) a perfect gem for her, but she does have intense stranger danger which, in true #girlboss style, she has no problem showing. She reacts similarly to new dogs, although has bonded closely with her foster fur-siblings and particularly with her little foster fur-brother (who she has turned into her emotional support animal). Maddie is working with a trainer to help her to better emotionally regulate, and she will need a home that will be patient with her and support her continued progress. But my goodness, is she worth it! Being loved by Maddie is like having the sun shine on you everyday, with her big smile, sweet kisses, playful nature, intense, burrowing cuddles, and sighs of contentment. If you are that special person (or persons!) who can help Maddie become her best self, you will never regret it. Maddie is sponsored with training to continue her journey. Until Maddie becomes her best self, we are recommending no kids and only friendly, patient and well-rounded dogs for siblings. If you are interested in meeting Maddie, please fill out an adoption application online (diamondsintheruffanimalrescue.rescuegroups/forms). Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
