Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed / mixed. Meet Mason, a 9 year-old tan Pitbull who is looking for a loving home. Mason has been an outdoor dog all his life, free to roam the great outdoors of an acre lot. However, Mason has fallen on hard times with repeated skin ailments that are resistant to healing with his outdoor lifestyle. With this in mind and his growing age, Mason would best be suited as your indoor companion. Mason is a loving, easy-going dog who wants nothing more than to sit by your side. He has a calm demeanor but enjoys chasing frisbees, basketballs, and the occasional cat! Mason needs an understanding owner who has time to be at home with him for part of the day.He has grown up sharing his backyard lot with his puppy friend Rocko, a Labrador mix. However, Mason would best best suited as the "Only Child" in his new forever home to ensure he has the proper attention and affection:)Interested in adopting this pet? Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
