Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (unknown type). Adoption Fee: $600.00. Please contact Melody (melody.gerouxgmail), (570) 296-4024, 845-313-2509 for more information about this pet. Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Deno is part of a bonded pair of Yorkies and will have to be adopted with his brother Dupris. He is 6 years old and weighs 9 lbs. The adoption fee for both dogs is $600.00. Deno and Dupris came to us the day after our last foster left. It is a treat for us to have a bonded pair and to watch them play and cavort together. Deno is the more outgoing of the two and he laps up attention and loves to lick faces. Dupris is less sure of novelty but has adjusted well and appears quite at home on our chaise lounge. They were surrendered because of illnesses in their family and had been home alone for a while before they came to us so they were a bit rambunctious at first. In the beginning, I kept them crated when I went out but the past few days I have left them without crating them and they have behaved very well and greeted me warmly when I got home. Deno and Dupris are staying with Sam in Shohola, PA.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
