Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Wesley Crusher – 14-Year-Old Neutered Male Chihuahua Mix – 13 lbs Wesley Crusher – 14-Year-Old Neutered Male Chihuahua Mix – 13 lbs Meet Wesley Crusher, a gentle 14-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing 13 lbs, ready to spend his golden years in a loving forever home. This sweet senior may be missing quite a few teeth, but that doesn’t stop him from happily enjoying dry food and treats. He even knows how to sit politely for snacks! Wesley is working on perfecting his potty habits and manners, and he appreciates slow, calm introductions to new people and situations. Once he feels comfortable, he becomes an affectionate, devoted companion who loves curling up in bed with his person. While he’s usually quiet, he’s recently started giving a polite bark to greet visitors. He gets along well with other dogs and did wonderfully with two canine companions during his first week in rescue. Wesley enjoys marking his spot in the yard but prefers to come right back inside. Because he can slip out of a collar, he’s best walked in a harness for safety. Wesley is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, parasite-free, and ready to spend his retirement years surrounded by love and comfort. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate little shadow, Wesley Crusher could be your perfect match. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
