Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky. Meet Lucky! Lucky is a male husky who was pulled by Husky House from a kill shelter when he was on the euthanasia list. Lucky is an energetic dog who loves to play! He does have some resource guarding tendencies with food and treats, so he would do best in an adult only home who can help him work on this. Lucky has been reported to do well with dogs and will be introduced to dogs at Husky House once he is more settled in and relaxed. Lucky is also nervous on leash and needs a home with a fenced in yard while he continues to work on leash training. Interested in adopting Lucky? Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
