Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Indie! Indie is a super sweet and lovable 3.5-year-old girl, weighing around 44 lbs. She absolutely thrives on attention and being with people. Indie is a true survivor with a heart of gold. When we found her, she was living on the side of a busy highway with a few canine friends, surviving on trash and a deer carcass. While her friends were too fearful to approach, Indie’s gentle and trusting nature shone through—she came straight up to us, allowed us to leash her, and walked calmly to safety. We believe Indie was abandoned by people who moved away, but she hasn’t let that dim her bright and loving spirit. Since then, she’s come a long way, mastering leash-walking with lots of practice and proving to be a quick learner. Indie is dog-door trained and may need a little time to adjust to a new routine, including potty breaks, as she settles into her forever home. With patience and love, she’ll quickly adapt and show you just how amazing she is. Indie would make an incredible companion and a sweet addition to the perfect home. If you’re ready to give this wonderful girl the loving family she deserves, apply today! is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
