Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Loveable Ruby is a female Shepherd mix with a short black and brown coat. She is 1 year of age and is just shy of 50 pounds. She is a medium energy girl who is great with children and people in general. Her house and crate training are in progress and going well but will need finishing. Ruby has mastered sit, down, wait, and paw. She loves to train and the key to success will be to continue her training. She requires a slow introduction to other dogs. She has lived with other dogs successfully in a foster home. Ruby will be successful in a loving home where there is an ongoing commitment to providing training, socialization and plenty of exercise and tons of affection, too. She is more than ready to settle in and become an amazing, lifelong companion. The adoption fee for Ruby is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up-to-date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
