Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Meet Molly! Molly is a sweet girl who loves attention, reassurance, and belly rubs. Love and reassurance help strengthen her self-confidence. She is a bit shy and can be nervous around strangers until she gets to know them. Molly loves to go for walks and is very good on a leash although a harness may be a better choice for walks. She prefers quiet walks where she can avoid large numbers of people and dogs. At the dog park, she can be a bit timid and will let you know if she's uncomfortable and would prefer to go somewhere else. Molly has yet to experience cats or other small critters. She has lived in a one person home, so a busy household may require an adjustment period At Doggy Daycare, she is familiar and comfortable with the staff and gets very excited when she realizes that we're on our way. She turned 3 years old recently. Molly has a lot of energy and loves running around the yard. She hasn't quite caught on to playing all games, but does like "Catch Me If You Can" and Keep Away". She loves toys. A fenced yard is highly recommended because she can be a curious wanderer.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
