Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Your new best friend could be just around the corner and when you meet Joey, a mixed breed sweetheart, it could happen sooner than you think. He is a happy boy who knows how to have fun. A young lad of around 8 months old, Joey has a bit more growing to do. He weighs around 35 pounds currently but will remain a medium sized dog of under 50 pounds when fully grown. A zest for life mixed with a great personality is a combination for fun and great companionship. Joey does well with other dogs and is a playful boy. Having a mix of playmates will be a dream come true for him. Joey also does well in the company of cats. If his forever family has a child or two, he will need a home with older children over the age of 12. Joey enjoys cuddles and he thinks that they are the best thing ever. If you are looking for a cuddle mate, Joey will fit the bill perfectly. His crate and leash training are in progress, but he is thrilled to let everyone know that he has mastered his house training. He will need the assistance of his family to provide consistent routines and training to encourage and guide Joey to learning his skill set. It is important to remember that although, Joey is house trained, accidents can occur whild adjusting to a new home environment. Joey sure knows how to shine with his friendly personality and playful nature. He will do well with a family that can offer him lots of love, guidance, training and bunches of socialization. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
