Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I’m Shayla, and I’m 40 pounds of pure fun and love! At around a year old, I’m a young Pit Bull mix (or so they think) with a big heart and an even bigger personality. I’m already potty and crate trained, so I’m ready to settle into a new home without a hitch. I haven’t met a person I didn’t like and I’m all about making new human friends! Cuddling is one of my all time favorite activities. I also have plenty of energy and love to chase after a squeaky tennis ball. Sometimes I even bring it back so you can throw it again! If you’re looking for a playful pup who’s as affectionate as they come, then I’m your girl. I can’t wait to find a forever home where I can share all my love and energy! PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
