Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $400. My adoption fee is $250 which covers my annual distemper booster, rabies, and being spayed/neutered and microchipped. I have been in the rescue since I was a tiny pup and I'm 7 months old now. I'm beyond ready for my forever family! I am a shy girl at first but warm up very quickly. I can be nervous/excite pee sometimes. I am still working on potty training. I still need help with manners (like jumping); I'm gentle about it and just want to be close to you. I do well with positive correction. I do well on the leash. I am slow to play with other dogs, but once I know I can play, the zoomies come out! As I do get along with dogs at times, I do need proper and slow introduction as I can be selective who I share my space with.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
