Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Harley She is from San Bernardino city shelter she was preg and gave birth to 10 puppies at the shelter , by the time we could rescue her 7 had passed mom had terrible pneumonia and so did pups. We now have 1 pup left not ready for adoption yet. Mom is now looking for a foster or foster to adopt so we can get her spayed and cherry eye surgery done. Harley is about a yr old. She is house trained. She is sweet and not destructive in the home. We had a huge pen set up for her when she was in foster she respected the boundries. She loves toys and stuffies. She loves walks and wants to please so badly. She has a very soft temperment. Is dog friendly . Playful puppy attitude. Www.azmastiffrescue

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
