Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Beautiful young journey has has had a rough start in life. A local rescue worked for over a month to save her from a homeless lady who was beating her with a stick and depriving her of the nutritious food the rescue volunteers would bring her. The volunteers noticed that there was an issue with her right back leg, but were unable to get a close look at the time. Every week the volunteers tried to convince the lady to surrender her to them, with no luck. Finally, Journey was able to escape her abuser and ended up with another homeless person who did not want her, and told the volunteers he was moving and abandoning her in the camp. The volunteers knew that they had to act quickly to save this little girl, and contacted MAD. We had an evaluator there immediately to evaluate Journey, and it was now clear that her femur was dislocated from her hip. Despite her painful walk, Journey has quickly shown herself to be a resilient, happy and friendly girl who loves people and other dogs. In her foster’s home she is finally off the streets, warm, fed and cared for. Journey enthusiastically tries to run and play with her new foster siblings and children as best she can. She is very affectionate and loving, and absolutely adoring all of the gentle caresses and treatment she now receives in her foster home. And somehow she already is housebroken, even though she lived her life before this one the streets! This girl is smart! She quickly learns and adapts so well to her new environment. She is doing great with her foster's dogs and her grandchild as well! We are so excited to see who she fully becomes after she receives her surgery and is finally out of pain! Stay tuned and follow Journey's story on our facebook page. #MADLOVEJOURNEY All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month paid subscription. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
