Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Hello there, I'm Sweetie! They call me that 'cause I'm as sweet as a candy store. I’m a friendly soul, always ready to greet everyone with a wagging tail. I'm a bit of a diva with other dogs, so I'd prefer a home where I'm the star, but am willing to share the spotlight with feline friends. I love stuffies - they're my favorite toys! I'm playful and energetic, so we'll always have lots of fun together. I also have a mellow side, and am always fully prepared for some snuggles on the couch. I’m as loyal as they come, and I've got a whole lotta love to give. My past owner went into hospice care, so I'm in need of a furever home where I can shower my humans with love and loyalty. Sweetie will also come with a one year supply of flea and heartworm preventives. Adopt Sweetie and start making unforgettable memories together.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
