Dog Breed: Brittany. Hi everyone – I’m Susie, a very active 10-year-old. I love my mom, Lucy, and I'm looking for a home where we can be adopted together. Why Susie and Lucy are such a perfect pair and will only be adopted together: They are bonded at the hip and literally don't like to go anywhere without each other. They love being together and caring for one another. They love everybody! They are great with other dogs and humans of all ages. (Ok maybe they love cats a little too much to share a home with them.) Golden years but with loads of energy! Don't be fooled by their ages - while they are mature, sweet-natured, and well-socialized companion dogs, they both still have plenty of spunk and love to play, run, and explore even while they like their quiet time and snoozing by your side. They are Brittanys with the dial turned down just a tad. Perfect for the Brittany lover. They represent all the classic traits of the breed. Cuddle masters? Check. Outdoor adventures? Yes please. Pulling on the leash? No way! They have mastered good leash manners with their twice daily walks (mandatory for their well being and good manners). Exploring their yard and lounging in the sun? Absolutely. Well-behaved and able to be left uncrated in the house when their parents are away? Mastered. These two will need a home with a good sized yard surrounded by a sturdy 5-foot physical fence that is secured at the bottom. They are spayed, current on their vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Susie’s corner: They call me Susie the Snuggler! I love to squish my way onto your lap or melt into bed with my mom Lucy. I do have some arthritis so I’m on daily medication that really makes me feel so much better and allows me move like I’m years younger than I am. My heart of gold has a slight murmur, but the vet says I’m ok and it just needs to be monitored. We did lots of tests so we can keep a close eye on it as the years go by! Susie’s adoption fee is $250.00 (their combined adoption fee is $500.00). Note Susie and Lucy are eligible for the senior-to-senior adoption fee of $150.00 per dog for qualified adopters ($300.00 combined senior-to-senior adoption fee). If you are interested in making Susie and Lucy members of your family, please visit .nbran and complete the on-line application found under the Adopt tab. Once the application has been completed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator. A phone interview, home visit and vet check will be required as part of the approval process. Please realize that all our dogs are placed in the most appropriate home for their individual needs. We do not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Susie and Lucy are eligible for our canine railroad and can be transported up to 1400 miles from Portland OR with the last leg (100) being driven by the adopter.

Overview:
The Brittany is a beloved and versatile gun dog, originating from the Brittany province of France in the 17th century. These medium-sized dogs are instantly recognizable by their athletic build, often appearing leggy and agile, with a dense, flat or wavy coat that comes in orange and white, or liver and white. Their intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes them incredibly trainable and responsive. Temperamentally, Brittanys are known for being friendly, energetic, and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active families. While their moderate size might suggest apartment living, their high energy levels and need for regular exercise mean they thrive best in homes with a yard or access to plenty of outdoor space. Generally a healthy breed, they can be predisposed to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and sometimes epilepsy, so responsible breeding practices are crucial.
