He is fearless and confident and curious about everything in his surroundings and beyond. He is a quick learner and very food and treat motivated. He is crate trained and potty trained. He knows "sit", "crate up", "inside" and "outside" - We are working on "gentle" and "stay". Chase loves exploring, so an active home that takes him along on adventures would be a great fit! He loves playing soccer with his tennis ball. He is a happy, energetic pup who loves to communicate; he barks to alert us and quite vocal when he needs more mental stimulation. He gets along well with his foster brother and sisters. He has not been tested with cats and has not had exposure to small children. He is being fostered with his littermate, Riley, who is also available for adoption. They are currently being fostered in Virginia Beach. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrtreasurergmail .

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
