Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 385.00. Samson is a handsome guy is around 3 years old and is a complete lovebug! He can be a little unsure in new places, but once he settles all he wants is cuddles from anyone who will let him! Samson will need a tall, secure fence as he's been known to jump a 4 foot fence with ease. His foster has been working on his house training and while he's good during the day, he sometimes has accidents at night while sleeping. He is also crate trained but takes some coaxing with food to get into it, but once he does he settles nicely. Samson can be a couch potato and would love a calm home with a family who will give him the love and attention he deserves. Will that be you? Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
