Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN VERMONT Meet Lady! youtu.be/w2aIbos6ByM Lady is 2 years old (4-21-23), female (approx. DOB tbd), 52 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed and micro-chipped. Lady was found in Vermont as an abandoned, homeless stray. She was very skinny and not spayed, we think she had been alone on her own for quite some time. She is a very smart pup, and learns very quickly. Lady is house trained and crate trained. She would love a home (no cats please and older children), that would engage her in play, ongoing basic training, outdoor activities, and emotional enrichment. She has medium+ energy, and has been good with dogs but would enjoy being the center of someone's universe vs having to share time and attention she desires and deserves! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
