Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Are you looking for a high energy Belgian Malinois? Ziggy could by your guy! Extremely athletic, Ziggy can jump over a 5 ft fence as easily as he jumped from a standing position onto the examination table at vet's office. Whoa, what? Ziggy is crazy about treats, very ball driven, and loves the tug - this boy has everything that a Mal lover who wants an active, athletic companion could want! He is a great candidate for agility, luring or other active dog sports. And while he is full of energy during the day, at night he loves to jump on the couch with his person, recieve loving pets and caresses, and relax. Ziggy's foster says that he is well named, as he "zigs and zags" all over the place while running around and can turn/change direction "on a dime." Ziggy also has the classic "Mal chatter" with his teeth when he is excited. He came into MAD with little obedience but a 100% zest for life. He has done well learning basic obedience in the short time he has been with his foster - his recall is good and he knows sit and down. And his leash walking is improving. Ziggy rides extremely well in the car, likes meeting new people at the pet store and at the vet's office. He shows zero aggression towards people or dogs and likes kids, but would need to be closely supervised around smaler kids until he settles in, as he gets very excited around them. Ziggy loves to be with other dogs, and would be a great companion for a dog that matches his exuberance for life and ball. With his high prey drive, he is not a great candidate for homes with cats or maybe small dogs. Or squirrels. Yup, definitely not squirrels. Zig Zag Ziggy is a heck of a fun dog, full of energy, power, enthusiasm and delight. His ideal owner will have experience with Belgian Malinois as he is not a great fit for a first tiime Mal owner due to his high energy and prey drive. But he is PERFECT for a Malinois enthusiast who adores the intelligence and athletic ability of the breed! All MAD dogs come with a series 3 Fi Collar and a six-month subscription. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
