Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Pandora is a sophisticated soul who is 7 years old. She is funny and playful. She knows how to "sit pretty" for treats and will even get the zoomies. She has become quite the social butterfly with humans. She's known to approach anyone coming to the house and ask for pets by putting her paws on your feet. In fact, once she feels at home she will be a velcro dog including laying underneath the blankets next to you. She loves to be anywhere here human goes. She does however, require you to get to know her before allowing you to pick her up. She is an older lady so a more quiet laid back home is more appropriate for her. She prefers older/considerate kids. Pandora is good with other small, respectful dogs. She knows how to use the doggy door and will hang out in her room (crate) when she wants her space. She also walks well on a leash! Her adoption fee is $250 locally in Houston, TX and can be transported out of state for $550 (includes hearlth certificate and transport fee). She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and tested heartworm negative. Fill out an app at: toolkit.rescuegroups/of/f?c=SQYPSGVQ

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
