HAROLD NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Harold and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (7/13) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)! Name: Harold Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of May 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 33 lbs as of 2/21/25 Gets Along With: Other dogs!We haven't seen him with kids or cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Harold is Looking For: His forever home! This super cute pup may no longer be a tiny squishy puppy but he's a young boy and wants what all young dogs want - lots of play time and snuggles and world exploration and cuddles. Making new pup pals, exploring all the toys, getting quality kibble, and taking deep naps (preferably on or next to warm laps) are all on his wish list as well. Most of all, though, he wants to know where he belongs, who his humans are, and to be safe and loved. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days along with all those adoring gazes and happy tail wags. What do you say? Is this the face you see yourself waking up to for many, many mornings to come? What My Foster Says About Me: Harold is a very sweet and easy going dog.He gets along with dogs, is good on his leash, he loves his squeaky toys, and a good Himalayan yak cheese stick! He is an affectionate goofball. He loves to run, jump & play. He bonds with his people easily and basks in the attention he gets. When our teen would pick him up, hold him, kiss him, and tell him he is a good boy, he beamed with happiness. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
