This handsome, playful pup is bursting with energy and ready to share his zest for life with a forever family. Neil is a young, adventurous dog who loves going on walks, exploring new scents, and taking in the world around him. He’s also quite the independent guy — give him a chew toy and he’ll keep himself happily entertained! Neil is already mastering his basic training and knows commands like “look” and “sit.” He’s still working on his manners around other dogs, but he’s making great progress every day. While some fast-moving things (like bikes) can still startle him, Neil is learning to stay calm and watch them go by — a big milestone for this brave boy! The best part? Neil’s joy is contagious. He literally jumps for joy when he sees his favorite humans! With a little patience and a lot of love, Neil will be an amazing, loyal companion. Are you ready to be his happily-ever-after? We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
