Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaaluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. tiny puppy with a giant heart! TINY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Tiny and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (07/27) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Tiny Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/Hound Best Guess for Age: 8 months as of July 2025 SEX: Female Estimated Weight (still has some growing to do!): 29 lbs as of 7/20/25 Gets Along With: Other dogs! Because Tiny is shy, she needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to show her the world isn't scary. Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. We are happy to discuss integration techniques within future adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special Adoption Considerations: Because Tiny is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Tiny is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Tiny! Me and my littermate, Thumbelina, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Tiny loves other dogs but is still a little unsure around new people. She knows to use a potty pad but would much rather go outside and lets us know if it’s time between walks! The crate is a safe place for her and she loves to nap in there or cuddle with our older dog who gives her a lot of confidence. Your new dog will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
