Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). This adorable little snausage is Davis Davis was recently returned to rescue through no fault of his own. His previous owner was sadly no longer able to care for herself or for him. Davis is estimated to be around 8–10 years old, and he’s a total sweetheart. He’s currently living with a foster mom whom he absolutely adores—he follows her everywhere and loves to snuggle up with her. Davis could stand to lose about 5 pounds, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying life! He’s great with other dogs, good with cats, and would do best in a home with older, respectful kids. Davis loves his stuffy toys and enjoys a good game of fetch. He’s looking for a forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and part of the family again. If you’re interested in giving Davis the loving home he deserves, please submit an application at 4paws4rescue. St Louis and surrounding area adoptions only.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
