Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed. Meet Cassie (short for Cassiopeia)! This sweet and spunky 2-year-old pup weighs about 50 pounds and is full of love, life, and playfulness. Cassie is currently being fostered on a farm, where she’s thriving alongside other dogs, farm animals, and kids—and loving every minute of it. Cassie is incredibly social and affectionate. She adores cuddles, chasing after toys, and soaking up all the attention she can get. She’s smart, eager to learn, and always ready for her next adventure. Whether it’s romping around the yard or heading out for a long walk, she’s all in. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and would do great in a home that can keep up with her playful spirit. Since she still has some puppy-like enthusiasm and can be a bit bouncy when she’s excited, we think a home with kids 7+ would be the best fit. Cassie is a joyful, intelligent pup who’s just waiting to bring her fun-loving energy to a forever home—could that be yours? Apply to adopt! This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
