Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Hi there, I’m Nacho — and I’m 100% certified Good Boy. I’m about a year old, full of love, and ready to find my forever person (or people!). Everyone here — staff, volunteers, you name it — keeps telling me I’m one of their favorites. I try to act humble, but hey… I am a pretty great pup. I’m super friendly with other dogs and really good on a leash. Walks? Love them. People? Adore them. Cuddles? Sign me up. I'm easy to handle and always happy to be part of whatever you're doing — whether it's a hike, a lazy day on the couch, or anything in between. I'm still young, so I’ve got energy and curiosity, but I also know when it’s time to chill. I’ve been told I have a calm, sweet vibe that makes me easy to fall for. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, happy-go-lucky companion who fits right in wherever he goes — that’s me, Nacho. Come meet me. I’ll be the one wagging my tail and hoping you’re my person. Can’t wait to go home with you — Nacho

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
