Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Kya - The Spunky Sweetheart! Born on Christmas Day, Kya is a little holiday miracle wrapped in fur. She and her siblings came into this world under the open sky, their first weeks shaped by the elements and their mother's unwavering love. Their story is one of resilience, and now, Kya is ready to write the next chapter with a family of her own. At 3 months old, Kya is a delightful mix of shy and spunky. It may take her a moment to warm up, but once she does, her playful energy and joyful spirit shine through. She loves to romp and wrestle, making her an excellent match for a canine sibling of equal size and enthusiasm. A buddy to help build her confidence and show her the ropes would be the perfect fit! Kya is looking for a family that will nurture her gentle heart while embracing her puppy energy. If you're ready to welcome a resilient, playful, and endlessly lovable pup into your home, Kya is waiting to meet you. Please fill out our application here.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
