Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi. My name is Shimmer and I'm a 1 year old, 27 pound female terrier mix. I am very sweet but I am shy and it takes me awhile to get to know you. After I get to know you, I am very loving and love to be with my person. I get along with other dogs, not sure about cats as I haven't been around any. Since I am shy it's best if children are older. I will require a fenced-in yard and another confident dog in the home to help me with my confidence. I like to run and play outside and then I'm ready to come in and play with my toys or take a nap! I need a patient person to give me the time I need to adjust to my new home and family. I'm housebroken, crate trained, micro-chipped, spayed, and up to date on my vaccines. My adoption fee is $300.00. If you have any questions not answered in this bio, email us at projecthoperescuegmail or to fill out an app for me, please visit our website at .projecthoperescure.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
