Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Fig was an emergency pull from the shelter with barely hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Fig is doing absolutely amazing with his current foster and siblings. He is sweet, shy, and understandably still a little nervous. Please contact MAD with any questions and follow along as we learn more about this sweet boy! All MAD dogs come microchipped with a lifetime registration and also a FI collar with a free one year subscription. If you would like to further inquire on this animal, please fill out an application. Applications that are completed in our process and being considered as a match will speak to the foster home to gain more information about our adoptable dogs. MAD is an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Our mailing address is in Michigan, however, each of our dogs are fostered in private homes across the US, with the location state of the dog included in the name of the pet or in the title description. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We only offer transport assistance for up to 350 miles. The applicant is responsible for the remainder of the distance of the transport. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
